Cannibal Ox

Post by mawltea » Fri Jun 12, 2009 5:58 pm

I can't believe it's 8 years since they release "The Cold Vein". It still sounds pretty damn fresh to me. Probably my favorite hip-hop album of all time. Sci-fi production with the lyrics to match it. I absolutely love it.

Can't say I'm too thrilled about either Vordul nor Vast Aire's solo stuff. They should get back together with El-P and make some more dope shit.

Atoms Family were pretty damn good too.

Any other fans here? Anyone got to see them live? How were they?

the cold vein, funcrusher plus and fantastic damage are some of my favourite albums ever because of the production. it actually sounds like really well thought out sci-fi forward thinking shit.

Oh yeah, El-P has a crazy style (not too thrilled about his latest album, though), Company Flow was amazing. Fantastic Damage is also one of my fave hip-hop records, flawless production.

It's in the sound track to Fallout 3. Rob Sonic's got some pretty decent stuff too. Saw him with Aesop Rock a bit over a year ago, kinda crappy sounding, but a good show, and they were good together.

Yes mate! Loves it - most of the Def Jux crew are pretty slick.. loving Mr. Lifs work aswell.

Also, if you guys don't know them, you should check out Atmosphere and Brother Ali - saw them last year at Thekla in Bristol - fuckin smashed it!

Whatever happened to Def Jux anyways? I mean, the Cage album is good but at the same time...

El-P's last album was 'pretty good'; nowadays the label seems to put out a bunch of jazzy blah. Oh, and Del (whoop-de-woo)...

This is my favorite "Winter Album" this and GZA's Liquid Swords; just like "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" is my favorite summer album

I catagorize it as a winter album because these cold winters here in Rochester just give you a screwface, and the beats feel like they were made in a freezer

Too bad we'll probably never see another Can-OX release due to their little beef

You're right the their solo stuff is garbage but check out

http://www.zshare.net/audio/61423452cdd22f83/

I put it on zshare it's off Vast Aire's latest solo record Deuces Wild
Track's called The Man Without Fear, kindof reminiscent of their old work
