Hello! Planet Mu march forward across the summer with an incredible line up of EPs and albums from artists both new and old from the Planet Mu Roster updated and informed below:

15TH JUNE ZIQ243 MILANESE - LOCKOUT 2x12"/CD

Just released is Lockout, a double ep by Milanese, specially made in Berlin using groove cutting techniques pioneered by legendary Detroit cutting engineer Ron Murphy with Heath Brunner.
The recordings on one side of each of these records have parallel grooves, so you get one of two tracks depending where you lay the needle. An impressive product and the music is top notch stuff as well, with Milanese expanding the remit of his music even further. A remix by producer of the moment Untold is also included!

22ND JUNE ZIQ238 FEW NOLDER - NEW FOLDER 2LP/CD

Few Nolder's album came out today. He is a new Planet Mu signing, with a debut album of that showcases his unique brittle take on European dance music; bright blocks of sound with pointillist minimal techno detail, swinging drums and bitter sweet melodies. It’s certainly a departure for Planet Mu but a welcome one.
Here is a mix he’s done to celebrate the release with a few of his bootlegs on:

29TH JUNE ZIQ234 LEGION OF TWO - RIFFS 2LP/CD

Legion of Two's album comes out next week; it’s a warm, tropical miasma of live instrumentation, digital noise and melody that’s informed by some of dubstep’s modes and FXs, bass and mood.
Dense and unusual, it takes dubstep’s dark cavernous spaces and fills them with chattering uncanny layers of sound. It’s a brave and exciting release that would have been unimaginable a few years ago.
Incidentally one half of Legion of two Alan O’Boyle who has released music on Planet Mu before as Decal, making up the Legion is the Dublin based drummer and improviser David Lacey.

06TH JULY ZIQ241 BRACKLES - LHC 12"

Brilliant, hyperactive dubstep from this renowned dj and producer that’s rhythmically informed by older garage and newer funky, but with a penchant for scrawled melodies that sound like the melodic equivalent of a child drawing with a felt tip pen .
Brackles has released on Berkane Sol and Applepips, but this is his Planet Mu debut , with another E.P. following soon!

06TH JULY ZIQ242 FLOATINGPOINTS - J&W BEAT 12"

Floating Points is a new artist from London whose brilliant productions are garnering tons of attention from people such as Gilles Peterson, Maryanne Hobbs and Benji B over at the BBC. These two tracks highlight two sides to his graceful and sunny productions. Warm Detroit techno influenced music with drums that sound like they’re equally informed by Hip hop and Garage, it’s absolutely perfect summer listening and a key ep for Planet mu.

13TH JULY ZIQ145 BIZZY B - RETROSPECTIVE 3LP/CD

This is exactly what it says, a retrospective from one of Jungle’s greatest producers, like the Remarc Compilation a few years back, Mike’s handpicked the best of the best, just to remind you how amazing jungle at its greatest was and what an incredible producer Bizzy B is.

20TH JULY ZIQ024 JEGA - VARIANCE (VOLUMES 1 & 2) 2LP/2CD

Finally we come full circle, back to the guy who inspired Planet Mu to start in the first place. Jega’s finally completed his new album. Since the leak of the original Variance album several years ago, which contributed to a nine year absence from the music scene, the album has grown beyond recognition into a two volume work. Variance is the culmination of Jega's musical exploration in synthesis, sampling, melody and polyrythmic beats. Volume one envelopes the more melodic and lighter side of his sound, Volume two, the darker, more intense side (all the clips are now up!). Nathan is currently working on a video to accompany Variance. It’s been a long wait, but the album will not disappoint fans old or new.

Forthcoming in August:
10TH AUG ZIQ240 LUKE VIBERT - WE HEAR YOU 2LP/CD,
17TH AUG ZIQ246 NEIL LANDSTRUMM - BAMBAATAA EATS HIS BREAKFAST 2X12"/CD
24TH AUG ZIQ248 TERROR DANJAH - SAMPLER E.P. 12"
And then Mary Anne Hobbs - ‘Wild Angels’ in September, her best LP yet - but more about that next month!

I'm really, really feeling Variance... Jega put some TIME into this one. I only listened to the first half dozen tracks, I already know I'm going to buy it so I'd rather hear the rest for the first time on the system :)
