If he is a really close friend tell him you are thinking of him (no homo) and that you are gutted he is away. He is gonna want to know he is missed and that he has a friend.
FIll him in with any good/interesting news and pass on any messages from family and friends. If need be tell him that you will keep an eye on his family while he is away. He will want to know they are well.
Tell him that you will have a big get together when he gets out to give him summin to look forward to.
Just tell him to keep his head down and do the time but to stay smart and look after himself.
Find out if he can have gifts and send him a book or mix tape he will like or summin to help pass the time.

Just write about everyday things. What you've been up to etc. S'what I did when my cousin was locked up.

I got 4 friends in different prisons at the moment, just write to them telling them as much information about your life as you can, or about anything really!
Anything that may provide good reading for a bit to pass some time is always good. And ask a lot of questions so it gives them something to do in writing back.
What did he go away for?

It's different depending on where he is tbh, some prisons have fucking stupidly tight rules. But you can send in CDs (some places get funny about copys, need to have original artwork n that) books, magazines etc.
Just not cakes with files in or illegal substance

haha

plus he has access to a mac and logic inside and makes beats so he sends me cd's and I give him feedback and advice.
Sounds like a hellhole, I don't know how people cope.

dont act big, even if he is "big n 'ard" physically. a friend who went to prison said if u act like a bigman u will get fucked over bad. im no expert but keeping your head down wud probably be wise.

Some good advice on here.
If possible, go and have lunch with him (usually only weekends)
cos this is about the most normal thing you can do together
even if it means he supplies the food (he can do something for you that way)
but just be aware of how hard it is for him when visitors leave
and he's still there.
However intimidating the environment, stay relaxed and supportive
cos other inmates may judge him (and his vulnerabilities) by his visitors.

When you were inside, did you ever drop the soap?

He's love a card I bet, one signed by all his mates, and that. Write on the inside,
"If you can't do the time don't do the crime"
I think he's really like that... oh and tell him you're going to move in with his missus to give her the emotional support she needs.
HTH HAND
