When are you doing another one with burial? Your interviews are great. Loved the ones with Nico Hogg by the way.

wasn't there another FACT interview? I seem to remember another one back in 2007, before they redesigned their site.

ok the interview Kode 9 did.... WTF is this kid on about??? Unite and Untrue are not synonymous.
Either I am missing something or this kids on mad dope. Also, what a downer man, I'm a great appreciator of the sound, but him being all like "it came from a dark place" and expressing his tunes come from such unhappiness is rather disappointing.(personally) It doesn't change my opinion of his tunes though, his outlook just seems so lame towards music and life.

Big up, hadn't read a couple of the interviews you linked. Always a pleasure to read a Burial interview.

Care to explain yourself? What I am failing to see is how any of my statements were invalid in the least, Did you read the interview the kid sounds like a bloody whiny teenager. I find it rather weak.
Also, I'd like to add when asked similiar questions in each interview not at all is he consistent with his responses. His music is dope, i guess that is all that matters

Burial has a way with words. No one can argue that. I do get the feeling that he must be a pretty sorrowful person, but I don't see why that's such bad thing? He certainly isn't on some woe is me bullshit, his music and his words just heavily imply sorrow. Should musicians have to front just out of obligation to others?
I don't know if it's in one of those but I lpl'd so hard when I read him say that he would kill himself if his shit sounded like Herbalizer.

Good answer..lol I am not whining at all, I have not implied anything other than, I find it disappointing that his music comes from such a negative place.

Im sorry, but do you honestly expect his music to come from a happy and uplifting place? i mean yeah some of his stuff is very emotionally uplifiting, but the bulk of it is dark, deep and emotional music.
That sort of raw emotion does not come from a happy and positive background, it comes from a taumented soul.

great post. when i hear burial's darkest, most emotional tunes it always makes me wonder what was going through his mind at the time.. the interviews offers some good insights.. i loved the line about how he treats the twostep sound with the same reverence as older, more established genres like blues and jazz.. i can well relate to those distant memories of pirates playing nameless, faceless music; it was just a sound- he obviously has a great love for that lost rave era, and through his musical genius he filters it back to.. well, something unique and amazing.
"distant lights" - just thinking about the significance of those words make me well up.
