Why ?

The last dubstep essential mix was Rusko, no wonder the general concencus of people think dubstep is mid-range bollocks.

enough with the negativity. dont understand the hate caspa gets. not my cup of tea but i can appreciate him doing his thing.
Im not hating on Caspa, Im just confused as to why they would choose him for an essential mix after Rusko did the last dubstep one, they have very similar sounds. Theres so many other people coming with different sounds that need to be represented.

The only person with any balls at Radio 1 is MHA.

They really don't..
When it's aired, and the tracklist is available.. It'll be so different.
Rusko tends to go for a more electro-esque jump up style.
There selection/production style is so much different than the times of Fabric 37.. They sound nothing alike anymore.

I'm not even that massively into what Caspa plays and whatever other 'mainstream' dubstep but to anyone that takes it as far as BBC radio 1, whatever it is, fair play to them.

You're forgetting, this isn't manufactured RnB for a deaf mass audience, Caspa's just a nice bloke, making tunes like you and I, and enjoying (and coining) whats been given to him. You wouldn't be complaining if the same had happened for you.

He obviously works hard and you complaining isnt gonna make any difference.

So what if 'mid range wobble' is over represented? I think that too but I'm busy trying to make my own scene rather than moaning about others.

Actually, perhaps the scene NEEDS moaners, because that's the sign that you've made it big, when people are moaning about you all the time. If people ever start moaning about my tunes, then I know I'm about to fuckin coin it.. :D :D :)

Plus, if people really start getting into your tunes and you start getting a big audience for it, you'll have people like Caspa to thank for it, even if you don't like his stuff...

I mentioned before I wasnt hating/moaning on Caspa. Im just bemussed by there lack of variation when it comes to dubstep essential mixes as so far weve had Skream, Benga, Rusko & Caspa, which is in my opinion a very narrow representation of what dubstep is.

Ill keep my mouth shut next time.

x1

This will be huge; I picked over Skream & Rusko's essential mixes for months after! Caspa will definately rise to the occasion!

I don't know, if they wanted to accurately portray dubstep i think it is wrong to just have one kind of midrange focussed sound on week after week.

I'm not taking anything away from Caspa and Rusko because if it wasn't for Caspa's June mix for Futurebreaks.fm I wouldn't be into dubstep now, but i just can't help but think there's so much more different stuff out there that people haven't heard before that could be capitalised on.

Also, there are so many of their mixes available on the internet or on their myspace pages for example (and Caspa was still dropping alot of the tunes on the previously mentioned FBFM mix a year and a half after) so if people want to hear that sound there is no excuse for them HAVING to listen to it on radio.

Depends really, do they want a "dubstep" show, or do they want to make up the listener numbers.

Everyone forgets or doesn't realise that Digital Mystikz have done an essential mix, and it was fucking brilliant. Was a 40 minute mix alongside Plastician & Roll Deep and way before Skream or Benga got the chance
