Buying new turntables - Technics SL-1210MK5

Just won £1000 at the casino off £20 so finally can afford some turntables! I'm after 2x Technics SL-1210MK5..
Where's the best (cheap/reliable online store) to buy 'em online? Preferably with cheapish shipping costs to New Zealand

Buy second hand get a better deal then spare money for what ever but if ya wanna buy new

mk5s are actually amazing i am jealous... my mk2s are still good as new though and amazin to mix on, they dont have that shiney finish and pretty lights tho and next level torque... one day...

why not get a pair of mk2's and serato?
or a pair of cdj's?
I'm sure the extra 3/400? each can't really be worth it, can it?

yeh do this. Buy them 2nd hand and save your money for some wax. Also MK2's are just as good (I actually prefer them)

plus you don't really need +/-16% pitch range for dubstep
buy some 2nd hand mk2s

Il be honest, the overall feel and build quality/robustness of the mkII's is far superior to the MK5's IMO
I you were not that bothered bout brand new decks you can get some right bargains from ebay, techies in perfect nick like 120-150 ea!
More cash for some other gear like someone said serato maybe?

i've got the mk5s and my pitch control is +/-8 ... they're the 1200 mk5s but as far as i know the only difference is that the 1210s are black...
also i heard that with the release of the MK6, they're going to stop supporting/selling/making parts for the mk2s. Not a huge deal, but definitly something to consider.

1210 mkII's original and best, there will always b spare parts knockin round on ebay so go for it, they never break anyway ha ha

except for when your moving them and you step on the dangling little ground cable and it snaps right off. electrical tape ftw!

Keep your eyes open for a bargain.
I found a pair of looovely condition MK5s (no lids, but everything pristine including tone arm clips/lights etc.) in the local cash convertor a few weeks back for 99 quid each
Probably the best deal ive ever found on anything to be honest lol I was pretty chuffed originally picking up my MK2s (again sick condition and with lids) off ebay for 300 quid, including a pair of ortofon concordes...
I think ive been lucky though

^^ thats actually a pretty easy fix.. and when you have em open, you can attach the ground wire to one of the screws that hold the foot on, keep the whole wire inside the case, and have self grounded techs!
For the record... the MK5s only have the +/-8 pitch... the M5G's have the +/-16 and blue lights / black metalic finish and the M5GM (Grand Master edition) have the the same as the M5G's but gold trim.
Ive had both MKIIs and MK5s and far prefer the MK5s. The pitch is tighter (due to it being digital), no dead spot or click at 0, and more torque / stronger motor.
All that said, all Techs are beasts, so if you can find a pair in good condition used, snag em up! Most problems with used ones are either cosmetic or a very easy fix.
Going from dubstep only mixing, to mixing more and more glitch/hip hop/skweee/etc into my sets, I would love to have the M5Gs and the +/-16 pitch. I love when I get to spin on them, and they're as common to see in the club as MKIIIs or MK5s. Dont buy or not something specifically because you currently spin dubstep - Ive fallen in and out of love with many styles in the 11+ years Ive been a DJ. Im definatly over my DJM500 which doesnt have the flexibility of being a good mixing mixer and scratch mixer at the same time as some other mixers are capable of - but when I got it, I was primarily mixing house, so it was the best choice for that style. 8 years later, I cant complain about the durablity, but I will complain about the lack of fader slope, strange input combinations on the channels, inability to assign mulitple channels to the crossfader and minimal cutoff on the eqs.
