Here's a quick run-down on the guys who'll entertain you in the Cerebral room:
iTAL tEK
--------
Fresh from BLOC 2009 and Glade Festival (amazing achievements considering he's only been producing for three years), iTAL tEK will be showing his skills at Cerebral, along with showcasing his vast array of personal productions. A DJ and producer truly set for great things.
Specializing in dark, atmospheric sounds, Brighton's Ital Tek (born Alan Myson) first appeared in 2006 on the download label Net Lab. The release was the Terminator 2 EP, five tracks with a heavy Aphex Twin influence and samples of Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2007 he introduced the deep dubstep sound that would become his signature when his "Blood Lines" 12" dropped on Planet Mu. That same year the Snippets collection rounded up unfinished works for Net Lab, while an appearance on Planet Mu's 200 compilation along with the 12" "Deep Pools" for the Square label would make influential DJs like BBC Radio's Mary Anne Hobbs fans and advocates. Hobbs would feature Ital Tek on her 2008 Presents Evangeline collection, then Planet Mu would release his debut full-length, Cyclical, that same year.
iTAL tEK's style stradles the fence which separates dubstep from IDM. Expect to hear lots of grolwing bass, with equal amounts of cerebral punch.
Phase 2 - Live PA
-----------------
Phase 2's style covers genres from IDM, hip-hop, breaks, dubstep, right through to trip-hop. For Cerebral he'll be showcasing an IDM/dubstep/breaks hybrid, mashed-up via a live production set in Ableton Live, featuring live vocals from MC Tayong. Having featured regularly at The Cross and Ministry of Sound for world famous nights such as The Gallery and Hi-Tek Soul, expect an interesting and marauding flavour of dubstep, as this former techno & house DJ gives us his take on electronica.
MC Tayong
---------
TAYONG aka T.Y.N, was born in Luton, now based in London, is a Singer, Song-Writer, and music producer! TAYONG's passion for music extends far beyond his beliefs & traditions. T.Y.N is reinventing urban music & is continually rolling out the sounds which span incredibly across so many genres of music. RnB, Hip-Hop, Rap, Grime, D&B, House & Slow-Jam. This young man has got every angle of production well covered & is one to look out for ever since smashing 1 Million plays on MySpace. TAYONG is publishing & releasing his own material through his own Record Label, REDKING RECORDS Inc, for whom which he heads up the Urban & Hip-Hop Category as A&R Director. TAYONG’s music is already being featured & sold through all major online stores; DJDownload.com, XpressBeats.com, JUNODownload.com, MixMag.net, DJMag.com,TrackitDown.net etc.
Oxynucid
--------
A true musician with golden fingers, Oxynucid aka Dom Schofield is fast making a name for himself in electronic music. Having spent 10 years playing keys in an electro/indie band that made it big, he left to pursue his solo career. Barely seconds later, he signed to The Centrifuge and has released a string of acclaimed EPs and tracks, taking his electro tendencies and braindance influences and shaping wondrous pieces of lush melodic electronics. You ain’t gonna see too many reel-to-reel players and Korg MS-10s on stage either – live electronics can be real, and Oxynucid’s sets have been the highlight of many a Centrifuge show.
Ursa
----
After years of playing in rock bands, causing himself head injuries with his own guitar and generally annoying anyone who happened to be passing by, a chance evening at the Garvey in Nottingham encountering Dillinja's Valve Soundsystem was something of an awakening.
Building on a knowledge of electronica previously restricted to the late 90's synth-metal work of Pitchshifter and Fear Factory and Squarepusher's"Go Plastic" LP, he began to absorb the various forms of DnB, Techno and Breaks that the midlands had to offer. After a few years of DJing DnB, he joined the Centrifuge collective and branched out into multi-genre, layered and mashed Ableton sets alongside perfecting all flavours of the DnB craft.
Hefty
-----
Hefty has always been a purveyor of dark sounds. Having been introduced to the world of the London underground party scene a number of years ago, he crafted his bassy, spooky style thanks to time spent at the legendary PICKLE parties.
Our most versatile of DJs is currently venturing into new territory with druggy, bass-driven dark minimal tek, but also enjoys and DJs many types of dark music: prog tek breaks, evil electro bass, bass heavy hip-hop breaks, spooky dubstep, smoking reggae, and robotic downtempo electro
Tate Simister
------------
Tate started-off DJing garage and grime, but moved on to both producing and mixing dubstep. He specialises in the dark and cheeky/wobble side of things. We're very happy to have him on board to coincide with his first release for Prehab Recordings.
