i dunno guys....i mean it is stealing isn't it?
nothing is ever black and white but this is what people primarily used the site for
the media i am generally into isn't major label in origin so i prefer to buy....old stuff is a different matter but i hardly think everyone using the site is grabbing stuff because they couldn't buy it
tv *inks was different as it was just watching..streaming
dvds costs next to nothing now as well....i can get shitloads of amazing films for 2 or 3 quid new so whats the point in downloading?
i don't care for much new media but if i do i wait till it's cheap which is pretty soon these days..
but that's me...

ive rarely used the site, just for a few games, thats it
plus i have no problem with people ripping the movie companies and gaming industries and the commercial music industries for all theyre worth. too long have they just been sitting back at the top of the chain making billions
this is just setting a pretext for more control over internet, probably giving government and other corporations an excuse and more reason to do the same

it's stealing from the
rich
which is a completely victimless crime, obviously.

I've never used public torrents anyway - too slow and prone to wankers with viruses.

Fucking lame ass pirates.
think you're only stealing from the "rich" ??
my friend couldnt get the funding to code his next game, cuz his shit was leaked. Never made much to cover the advertising and product placement. He made zero and has trouble taking care of his family mowing grass and odd jobs.
what do people think?? there's a bunch of old dudes in suits sitting somewhere in a 200 story building, smoking cigars and drinking scotch, talking about how they gonna rip everyone off by charging thirty dollars for a game? thats not the media industry, thats oil companies. wanna play robin hood?? go steal a barrel of oil.
get real
fucking lamers
(those who steal)

well then we're one step closer to a glorious utopia where nobody has any money and there's no more computer games, films or distributed music

I've always found it a bit ridiculous that a lot of people on here have no problem downloading movies, games, books etc. but would lynch you if you said you illegally downloaded a dubstep record.

the economy is pretty much "the circulation of money representing one's worth"
the economy could use a creative stimulus package with sending pirates to jail and hefty fines. and the money going into victim impact funds back to the artists.

totally
the amount of people potentially effected by bankrupting a games studio dwarfs those running a label....and artists make all their dough from playing out anyway....games studios have to sell

sure... but look how people just come up with all these excuses to justify theft.
theft is theft
it it is for sale and you don't pay for it, and you decide to steal it, what else can you call it but theft?!?
you can call shit sugar, but I'd doubt you'd take a bite.

yes i was joking
i don't really agree with the hefty fines though, because the various industries' ideas on how much money they're losing are vastly bloated. they see every illegally downloaded film/game/tune as a sale that they would have made otherwise, when in actuality the majority of people are only watching/playing/listening because it's free.
the games industry is
completely fucked though, something a lot of people don't appreciate. the only people making money are the publishers.
