Just had a thought about Guitar Hero / Rockband....

Anyone know if its possible to play those tracks back by themselves in some way? I know you can download a ton of tunes for those games, and for them to work within the game they have to be separated tracks... which would make them wonderful sample sources for remixing. Anyone know more about this?

Who wouldn't want to remix Sum 41?

well my first thought about this is you could plug the audio of the xbox/ps3/wii and then in guitar hero they have the make your own tune section to you should be able to record each hit from there i dont quite know
because i hate guitar hero and rock band this is just what i know of it from my son playing it all the god damn time

I dont have it myself, just played it a few times... but each song is loaded split into separate tracks, and when you mess up, that track goes silent... so they are all individual. would be a nice way to get clean guitar, bass and drum sounds... only problem is in the game, the crowd boo's when you mess up, and I wouldnt want that in there...

yeah that is why you would want to use the create a song mode not the game play mode

Also, there's a mode in the game that lets you practice each instrument separately, just so you mess up as much as you want, but without the crowd booing and failing the song.

But i think the practice mode is one instrument and a click track

Well, Guitar Hero 3 is out on the PC and I have recorded the guitar part from Pearl Jam - Evenflow... simply I just loaded up Audacity and played practice mode with the drums and vocals down :)

I imagine that somewhere along the line I'll be able to use the guitar track... If anyone wants, I can upload it :)

you can find the individual audiotracks in the installation folder on your PC.

If you download the tunes for frets on fire (you can find packs of them on torrent sites) im pretty sure each one comes split up into seperate "ogg vorbis" tracks or some shit. I dont understand it all if im honest.

Also, I think theyre midi tracks or something. Ive tried adding some to itunes or whatever, and it just plays piano keys in rough time with the music...not sure what that means either
