Recommendations (in the UK) for a new dj backpack?

Post by Whistla » Wed Jul 15, 2009 10:34 am

hey peoples
can anyone recommend me a new bag?
heres what i need, what i have found, and why i cant use it so far, lol:

I want a backpack to carry my dj stuff (i have trashed the current one and am sik of carrying 2 bags around)

I need to fit in a 15.4" widescreen laptop, bout 20+ vinyls, my sl3, my cables, power supplies and headphones. Thats it.

Sounds easy?

Wait!

I also need it to fit in the overhead compartment on planes! (ahh said wait didnt I, hehe)

So that means the OUTER dimensions of the bag MUST BE UNDER - 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22ins x 18ins x 10ins) [preferably under these: 55x40x20cm :: which are easyjet sizes] but i dont hold out too much hope of there being one this small lol

Ok so thats what I need.
Stuff I have already seen but had to write off are:

UDG Creator Backpack for Serato - Too big
Headliner Stashpack (this is the one that want but cant get cos...) - only available in the USA :(
GigsSkins - cant find a backpack they do
M Gear Mobile Laptop Studio Bag - doesnt take vinyls AND laptop
Agenda Pro DJ Backpack - Too big (only by 1 inch grrr!)
Ortofon Digibag - can't find the dimensions of this anywhere

and thats where I am
can you help?
i seriously hope so as i got flights coming up soon and need to stop lugging 2 bags around!
Cheers in advance peeps!

as i said b4, unavailable in the uk, the cost of shipping quoted is more than the bag costs, which is really annoying as the Stashpack is perfect, as i said in the first post.

When is the last time you paid 20 dollars for a single record that was still in print?

Why do American's always get stitched up on this type of stuff?

I could afford many bags with the outlandish shipping rates I've spent on vinyl in the last year alone lol.

i have an office depot laptop bag. says foray on the zipper. seems to be their brand but they don't have the model on the site.

it is padded though and holds my macbook, serato, and 15 records alright.

If the other person sends it to you with "Present" or "Promo" (or other shit, dno) on the package, you don't need to pay taxes.

there is clearly a gap in the european market for a serato/laptop & vinyl bag that fits in overhead space on planes.

bag manufacturers take note!

very true. i played in italy a little while back, took a 15.4 laptop and a 32 key midi keyboard (i do a live show) on ryanair flights... i managed to use a small wheeled suit case. it barely fit into the little measuring cages. haunted

it fitted into the overhead with acres of room but the cage was easily half the size of the overhead space.

This is relevant to my interests. Running a 13" macbook and timecoded vinyl too. Keep us updated in case you find anything worth getting.

been recommended the: Magma Multi-Purpose DJ Backpack - http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/se ... k=MAG47850
its almost there in terms of size, just 7cms over in terms of depth, but thats more than the 1inch of the Agenda Pro DJ Backpack.

so still no good :(

any more for any more?

found this:

Lil Namba Remix Backpack

http://nambagear.com/lil-namba-remix-backpack/

unfortunately looks like yet another "USA Only" affair

why are all the ones that are the correct size all USA only?

:(
