Hole is too small on my vinyl!

Post by alextheswede » Fri Jul 17, 2009 1:51 pm

Right, so my vinyl of Rico Tubbs - Gangsters (Tes La Rok/Muffler Remixes) came today, and the hole is fuckin too small for my decks!

What is the best way to make the hole slightly bigger so it will fit like a finger in a glove?

This sucks raw balls

Either work it down over the bit in the middle of your decks then pull it off turn it over try again till it goes.

Or get a small knife and work your way round the hole

It wont snap, well it might, but i once got a record stuck at tribe when I first started buying them and Simon Scott just ragged it off and said "Vinyl are stonger than you think, it won't snap" (well he sais something to that efect under his breath!) and tbh that man knows a lot about vinyl!

Will be a bit harder to put some pressure on the sandpaper but it'll work I guess.

I always use the knife-method. Be sure to blow of the pieces of vinyl left on the record.

Use a Pencil to push through the hole, it should fit perfectly. if the hole is now too big, simply fold up a strip of paper and fold it through the hole so its pressing against the spindle. Works everytime!

I always use a small circular file that my dad has in the garage.

This is coming from a battle DJ, I need my records to spin properly.

Despite some of the inherent problems you face with imperfections of vinyl, I've got to say that there is simply nothing that compares for my money. There's something about the quirkiness of the idea of playing the same format my parents played. I feel like it's something I can hand down to my kids. Big up the digital medium as well, but I can appreciate the gal/guy I know invested some stacks on their collection.

Aah they only call it "virgin vinyl" because it's always nice and tight...

Buy it a nice dinner and give it plenty of foreplay!
