Recommend me a mixer

Post by webstarr » Sat Jul 18, 2009 9:54 pm

I'm after a new mixer to replace the shitty behringer one I have now. I'm after something with 4 channels & minimum 3 band eq. I'm not bothered about it having filters & other toys; i'd rather just have something with high quality routing & decent meters. What would people recommend?

allen & heath xone 4d
world class mixers, ask anybody. i don't like them much myself because they spin me out, but they're pretty much unchallenged for build and sound quality.

vestax pmc37 pro
only 3 channels but really nice 100% eq cut and layout. great routing - you can assign any input to any single channel or a combination of channels! shit hot. great monitoring and fuck loads of inputs + knobs.

ecler nuo 5
high quality, low price. definitely a solid choice

one of the new vestax range maybe?

or a pioneer? personally i am not a fan.

think really long and hard about which you choose. definitely definitely definitely go and try a few out before you splash the cash, cos you're going to be fiddling with this bit of kit more than your decks or anything else once you buy it!

imo rane/vestax, but honestly, if you're not into scratching and you just want to blend them riddims, get an allen & heath. you will be the man

I've never been a fan of the Pioneer, but it has all those options... Allen And Heath if you have the money.... a personal favorite of mine has always been Vestax. Depending on what you need the other optional channels for, you could get a two channel that will switch inputs. Its just money... and how serious you are as a Dj
Blackout Siren is a music act down mid-west... when not in the studio I turn vynil.

Cheers for these. The Allen & Heath is straight out of the question due to cost. I like the look of the Ecler mixer, i'll have to look into that a bit more. I don't really want to be paying more for a pile of filers & everything which i'm not going to use. I'm going to have a look if anything's kicking about 2nd hand aswell
