hmmm I can't get the hang of sytrus. And now too frustrating since I can use other things pretty well. I feel a new thread coming on...

If you're using logic, Sculpture (a modelling synth) is fantastic for this sort of thing (and, in fact, many other sorts of sounds).
There are some decent tutorial videos out there, which it would be helpful to watch as it has a fairly unique way of approaching things.

thanks folks

i hate the sytrus and dx10 to be honest, they sound a bit too cheap and plastic.

i will check out the fm8 for sure though and the others you've mentioned and post when I have time

my flatmate actually has a yamaha tg33 which i might borrow too. hmmmm

FM8 is great, easily my favourite fm softsynth, a real dream to program however it's still going to sound quite clean and clinical and unless that's the sound you're after (which I'm guessing not from your sytrus/dx10 comment) you'll probably need some extra processings to get it sounding nicer.

The other thing which springs to mind is looking at some sample banks more geared towards film/game/foly sounds which have all sorts of clanks and clangs in them, I don't really know of any specific ones except Heavyocity but I've not tried it yet so I don't know how good it is in that area.

Hope that helps ;-)

ah yes bruv - BORROW is it? ;o)

I'm clamping that sucker the my desk and setting up a webcam as soon as I get home.

You should have said though mate - I've got some tings - you tried Ogun on FL8 new betas? I can bounce you some things out of that. And my SY85 has some fruity bells too - if you've got time to hook it up and pore through all the bleeding sysex packs i've got for it. The TG33 and the SY85 are a bit "dull" at the tops though - but can work. Hit me up when i get home bruv!

I'VE GOT A BELL YOU CAN SAMPLE!
