yea i hear ya on that one mate. tho turbulence voiced it that way and i didnt wanna change anything after in order to keep his original vibes alive even if not hitting the right chord for certain parts.

I'm glad you left it as it is, I think. Feel is more important than tuning, always.

Bottom line is I like that the tune is different, so no matter what I say, its going to be from that perspective. Dubstep as based on my own recollection, started with more 2 step flavor and carribean/african riddims and vibes. shifted to more of a Bhangra feel and morphed into a half tempo, sub frequency, wobble affair. Nothing bad with any of that. The current fanbase mostly recognize the most recent incarnation of the style. Half tempo, reggae dub influenced, with very few full vocals. So in a sense, "set your spirit free", is putting an unfamilar spin on a genre which is now becoming narrowly defined. The Roots of Dubstep complilation must be confusing for people who are just tuning in and missed the whole UKG/ 2Step /Sub Low /8Bar thing that preceded and influenced early "dubstep".

Set your spirit free if listened to outside of the current framework for "DUBSTEP" challenges what defines it, by doing something just a little different, which is what makes this particular part of the forum interesting.
Nice direction on this one.

Holy Shit!

This is absolutely awesome

If i can get a 320 of this i would bang it out in the clubs proper style (and the skate park)

That Notorious bootie that Extra Cee made is nice as well.

Hope this comes out on a 12"

really excited about this.. been pushing for some DJs and Rastas to latch on to the sound for a few now.

Listened to it a few times and the chrous is BIG BIG...
which means, it should be more present. I could tell you didn't do much arrangement after the vocal was submitted. Being a vocalist myself, I get not wanting to step on toes etc, but you are the producer and in this case know a lot more about the music/vibe than Turbulence.

For example, the vocal intro doesn't work well with the vibe and subject for the song. Perhaps starting with the phrase "Be all you can be-eeee" on it's own will def put the listener on the right track from the start. A 4-8bar intrumental break will still make it a vocal track ;) The drop at the beginning of the 2nd verse is choice

Bless for the tune, effort and idea, really and truely King 8)

That vocal is amazing. Congratulations! Thanks for bringing the positive vibration back into dubstep, its needed. I'd love to hear more of this.

I think what a few people are saying is that the bass and tone of the track doesn't fit that well with the vocal, maybe another version on the lighta side would be more appreciated.

Mash up.
Anyone could get the vocal a make a melodic piece of drivel that potters along all subby and minimal. This comes in and batters you. I think it's toughness.
BIG UP.

Funny enough....I like the jerky feel of the beats and the sluggish bass line (noise and all)....maybe slow that tempo a tad?

the vocals I wasn't sold on until listening further and I'm enjoying this.

A- because I wasn't sold completely at first, but this is fucking top notch.
